Pain Points

  • Unclear final pricing online.

  • Fear of booking something wrong.

  • Unsure if space will actually fit their group.

  • Waiting days for call-backs.

  • Social media or websites with small text and busy screens.

  • Inconsistent information between websites and staff.

  • Too many venue options to compare quickly.

  • Wasting time touring spaces that are too small or wrong style.

Defining the Problem

People planning small-to-mid sized events struggle to quickly find restaurant party rooms that match their guest count, budget, and style. Restaurant managers spend significant time answering questions and giving tours to leads that aren’t a fit. This product helps hosts discover and book the right space efficiently while helping restaurants manage inquiries and fill their party rooms frequently.

Paper Wireframes

These paper wireframes are of the mobile search results page. Organizing such an overwhelming amount of information to help users follow the core flow was essential for this page. I needed to provide clear and accessible results, and I found that using ascending cards for each venue would bring value to the mobile design. This allows users to quickly scroll through options without clicking any further.

Additionally, I was able to implement this same design on the desktop version. By maintaining the same style cards with identical information helps users gain confidence when using BookNow across multiple devices.

Digital Wireframes

I wanted to maintain the same simplistic search result page, featuring core information without further tapping.

Venue pages feature photos of the room, contact information, and an ability to book either a tour or party without scrolling through the page.

All confirmation pages to clearly show the user when and where their tour is, as well as how to contact the venue directly.

User Testing and Iteration

One of the biggest adjustments on the Lo-Fi prototype, was to make the calendar more accessible for users. By placing it at the top of the search page users are now able to quickly pick their date of choice.

4/6 users felt that when planning a party, the date was the most important part of the process.

The Next Steps

Allow users to make and customize accounts in order to quickly find their favorites, recently visited or reviews of venues from other users

Incorporate a way for users to add additional comments or concerns when reserving their date. Accommodations such as bar packages, allergies or special requests are currently limited.
